About ExplainLaw
ExplainLaw is an educational tool that translates legal language into plain English.
Mission
ExplainLaw exists to make legal language easier to understand.
Legal text appears everywhere in everyday life — in contracts, terms of service, laws, court cases, and policies — but it is often written for specialists, not for the people affected by it. ExplainLaw translates legal language into clear, plain English for general educational purposes, helping people better understand what they are reading.
The goal of ExplainLaw is not to replace lawyers or legal professionals, but to help close the gap between complex legal language and everyday understanding. Clear explanations can support learning, reduce confusion, and help people ask better questions when they do seek professional advice.
How ExplainLaw Works
ExplainLaw uses artificial intelligence to analyze legal text and generate plain-English explanations intended for learning and general understanding.
It can help explain:
- Legal terms and concepts
- Court cases and case names
- Laws and statutes
- Contract clauses
- Full agreements and legal documents
